Here are some easy steps to get rid of automatic updates of Google Chrome:

This method requires to restart your PC after completing, so if you have any work open, then save it and close it before proceeding.

Now, go through the steps,

  1. Click the ‘Start’ button in the bottom left corner or press the ‘Windows’ key on your keyboard to open the start menu.
  2. Type and search for ‘Run’ in the search box.
  3. Click ‘Run’ at the top of the search result.

  1. Now, enter ‘msconfig’ into the run command box to open Windows System Configuration window.
  2. Click ‘OK’ or press ‘Enter’ key.
  3. Click the ‘Services’ tab at the upper-right corner of the System Configuration window.
  4. Check the box of ‘Hide all Microsoft services’ at the lower-left corner of the window to hide all the important Windows services.
  5. Scroll down and search for ‘Google Update Services (gupdate) and (gupdatem) both are next to each other and manufactured by ‘Google Inc.’
  6. Click and uncheck both the options (Google Update Service (gupdate) and Google Update Service (gupdatem).
  7. Click ‘Apply’ button at the bottom right corner of the window.
  8. And, click ‘OK’ button to finish.
  9. Click ‘Restart’ when asked.

Doing this will save your changes and restart your PC. Once restart complete, Google Chrome automatic update will be disabled.

How to disable Google Chrome Update from Windows Services Manager

  1. Open Run Command.
  2. Now, enter ‘services.msc’ into the run command box to open Services Manager.
  3. Click ‘OK’ or press ‘Enter’ key.
  4. Scroll down to find ‘Google Update Services (gupdate) and (gupdatem) both are next to each other and manufactured by ‘Google Inc.’
  5. Double-click on ‘Google Update Services (gupdate).’
  6. Click on ‘Startup Type’ drop-down button in the General tab.
  7. And select ‘Disabled’ from the drop-down options.
  8. Click ‘OK’
  9. Now, double-click on ‘Google Update Services (gupdatem).’
  10. Click on ‘Startup Type’ drop-down button in the General tab.
  11. And select ‘Disabled’ from the drop-down options.
  12. Click ‘OK’
  13. Confirm if asked.

Restart your PC. This will save your changes and disable automatic updates of Google Chrome.
