Office 365 Advanced Threat Protection for SharePoint, OneDrive and Microsoft Teams now available

While moving your association to cloud administrations, security concerns include another layer of thought; one of trust.

Security and consistence is a progressing procedure, not an enduring state. It is continually kept up, improved, and checked by exceptionally gifted, experienced and prepared work force. We endeavor to keep programming and equipment advancements a la mode through powerful procedures. To help keep Office 365 security at the highest point of the business, we utilize procedures, for example, the Security Development Lifecycle; we additionally utilize methods that throttle movement and counteract, recognize, and moderate ruptures.

At Microsoft we continue systematic approach to disrupting attacks through eliminating weaknesses by eliminating the vectors of attack themselves by implementing architectural changes some of which leverage virtualization, containers, and other types of technologies.

In April 2015 we launched Office 365 Advanced Threat Protection to help customers secure their environment from evolving security threats providing protection against unknown malware and viruses, real time, time-of-click protection against malicious URLs, and rich reporting and URL trace capabilities.

In our continued effort to address the modern threat landscape, today we’re announcing General Availability of Office 365 Advanced Threat Protection for SharePoint, OneDrive, and Microsoft Teams.

Office 365 Advanced Threat Protection SharePoint, OneDrive, and Microsoft Teams uses signals and smart heuristics as quality indicators to identify the files within your tenant that may contain malicious content, which includes correlating the file activity signals from SharePoint, OneDrive, and Microsoft Teams within your tenant with the Microsoft Security Intelligence Graph threat feeds.

Examples of file activity signals include anonymous, company wide or explicit sharing, or activity from guest users. Threat feeds that Office 365 Advanced Threat Protection leverages include known malware in email or SharePoint, Windows Defender/Defender ATP detections, suspicious or risky logins or other indicators of irregular file activity within your tenant.

Windows 10 Now Used on 600M Active Devices

Microsoft’s annual shareholders meeting was held on Wednesday, and CEO Satya Nadella took the opportunity to confirm that Windows 10 is now in use on 600 million active devices every month.

To give you some idea of the growth rate, back in May at Build 2017 Microsoft stated Windows 10 had reached 500 million active devices. So that’s an additional 100 million devices in six months. As GeekWire reports, Microsoft’s original goal back at the launch of Windows 10 in 2015 was to hit one billion devices within three years. That now seems unlikely.

The slower than expected rise of Windows 10 on the desktop could be put down to a number of factors including how device use is changing. But a big part of the problem is Windows 7. The latest figures from Netmarketshare show Windows 7 still counts for over 46 percent of the desktop operating system market. Windows 10 sits at just over 29 percent.

If growth continues at its current pace, Windows 10 will hit one billion devices just as we are about to celebrate Christmas 2019. Even so, Microsoft won’t be concerned when you consider its main rivals on the desktop only manage to grab 3.3 percent (Mac OS X) and 2.98 percent (Linux) of the market.

Microsoft needs Windows 10 to keep selling not only to continue its desktop market domination, but also to help pay for the Redmond Campus expansion and planned addition of 8,000 new employees there.

Office International November Competition Summary and Winners

From November 13th to November 24th, 2017, we ran a contest in our Office International Community in search of the top language issues in localized versions of Word Online and OneNote Online. We wanted people to discover how feature rich our Online offerings have become, get people to use them in their native language and let us know about issues that affected their user experience.
We were giving away 3 X $100 Amazon voucher to the top 3 contributors in three categories:

Category 1 – Highest creation of new, original posts
Category 2 – Best new, original post
Category 3- New, original post with largest international impact

Firstly, we would like to thank everyone who took the time to enter our competition. We really appreciate the time you took to report issues to us. We can now proudly announce our three winners:

Mourad Louha from Germany wins category 1 for his 37 issues reported.
Marianne van Teijlingen – van Bemmelen from The Netherlands wins category 2 for her reporting of an overlocalisation of indent in Dutch.
And finally, Danish native speaker Jorgen Koch wins category 3 for his reporting of an inconsistency in allign commands across Office applications.

Congratulations and well done to our winners!

Quick summary of our Competitions Dashboard:
Below is a Power BI Dashboard that summarizes all the feedback we received during each competition. You can filter by month selection to see the summary of the November competition. At the top it shows who the competitions contributors were, how many bugs they each reported, the languages they were reported in and the type of issue reported. Competition entrants can also see the status of what they reported by clicking on the bug row in the table at the bottom and the comment for that bug will appear in the top left.
Most of the bugs have been implemented in our localised files. Depending on the platform builds with those new translations and fixes should be live in the next product update. That could be anything from 1 week to 4 weeks’ time.
Thanks to everyone who entered the competition and congratulations to the winners!

What’s coming in December?
We are changing tack next month. Users of localised Office Insider builds on any platform can enter our Sweepstake after it is advertised next week. People can enter as often as they like throughout December and we will have the sweepstake in early January. After the start date which will be announced next week then once you join the community and report an issue from a localised Office Insider build (from any platform) then you will be automatically entered into the sweepstake. Please let any Office Insiders you feel that may be interested know about our competition and ask them to join our Office International Community when you see it advertised on the Tech Community or social media channels (LinkedIn, Twitter) next week.
